2 BOMBS: Senate Approves Subpoena On Hunter Biden Inquiry & WH Counsel Advised Susan Rice On Email

Senate approves subpoena in Hunter Biden inquiry

A Senate committee voted to approve a subpoena for its Republican-led investigation into Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy firm that once employed Hunter Biden as a board member.

By a party-line, 8-6 vote on Wednesday, the Senate Homeland Security Committee greenlighted a subpoena for Blue Star Strategies, a Democratic public relations firm.

Blue Star Strategies represented Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian gas company that employed Biden on its board while his father, former Vice President Joe Biden, was leading the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.

The subpoena approved Wednesday includes deposition requests for the firm's leadership.

Chairman Ron Johnson announced the investigation as the elder Biden’s chances of winning the Democratic presidential nomination increased after his tremendous win in South Carolina. The Wisconsin Republican, who insisted he's "not focused on the Bidens," claims Burisma “sought to leverage Hunter Biden’s role as a board member of Burisma to gain access to, and potentially influence matters at, the State Department.”

Sen. Kamala Harris, a California Democrat, criticized the vote Wednesday.

"[Johnson's] Senate Homeland Security Committee subpoena vote today is just another way to score cheap political points. We should be prioritizing protecting Americans during this pandemic — not partisan political matters. This is a clear abdication of responsibility," she tweeted.

Johnson defended the subpoena in an appearance on Fox News's Outnumbered Overtime with Harris Faulkner, saying the majority of the committee's work has been focused on the pandemic and that the subpoena was not meant to be a "big deal."

"Democrats and Republicans realize the vast majority of our committee work is focused on the COVID-19 crisis," Johnson said. "We have held multiple hearings, we are briefed multiple times per week by administration officials, so that's the vast majority of our work."

Johnson also claimed the firm has not been cooperative with the committee in its request for information, contrasting with what the firm has said about its compliance.

"I didn’t want to make this a big deal," Johnson said. "I just wanted to get the information, I just wanted to get those records. We'll get those records now, and we'll see if we find something. I’m somewhat suspicious. My interest level has been raised by the high level of their objections. I think they protest a little bit too much."

The Burisma matter got wrapped up into the impeachment saga after President Trump pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the Bidens and other Democrats in a July 25 phone call, according to a transcript released by the White House. Democrats cried foul over what they interpreted to be a "quid pro quo." Trump was impeached by the Democratic-controlled House on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, but he was acquitted by the GOP-led Senate in February.

Right before the vote on Wednesday, a letter from Blue Star Strategies co-founder and CEO Karen Tramontano written to Johnson said the firm was "puzzled" by the need for a subpoena.

Tramontano said the firm received a letter from Johnson on Dec. 3, 2019, asking it to assist in the committee's investigation into "certain officials within the Obama Administration." She said the firm submitted answers to the committee's questions two weeks later, as well as provided documents about its meetings with the U.S. government regarding Burisma.

The firm was asked for more information on March 19, but a response was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tramontano said.

"At every opportunity we have indicated to the committee that it is our intention to cooperate," the letter read. "At no time have we ever stated or indicated in any way that we would not cooperate. Therefore, we are puzzled, despite our willingness to cooperate, why the committee is proceeding to vote on a subpoena."

Tramontano asked the committee to take into consideration Blue Star Strategies's cooperation up until now and said it intended to continue its compliance with the inquiry. Johnson disagreed, however, saying the organization has not complied with requests to the fullest capacity.

"Recently, they’ve given us a few more pieces, but we know it’s not even close to being complete," he said.

Barack Obama and Comey discussed Flynn’s communications with Kislyak.

Several times throughout the email, Susan Rice claimed Obama instructed law enforcement to proceed “by the book.”

Rice even wrote that Comey “affirmed that he is proceeding “by the book” as it relates to law enforcement.”

Former US Attorney Brett L. Tolman spoke out about the Susan Rice email to herself. In a series of tweets, he showed that Rice’s efforts were not only to cover her and Obama’s behinds, they were to cover everyone’s behinds.

US Attorney Brett Tolman was correct.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Susan Rice’s bizarre email to herself was directed by the White House counsel.
