Air Force Helicopter From Joint Base Andrews Shot … Is POTUS Being Targeted?

Lawrence David| Opinion| On Monday, the Secret Service neutralized a threat to President Trump outside the fence surrounding the grounds of the White House.

Today, we learn that perhaps this wasn’t the only attempt at potentially piercing the president’s security detail.

(Air Force Times) An Air Force UH-1N Huey helicopter was forced to conduct an emergency landing at a local airport in Manassas, Virginia, Monday after being shot from the ground.

A crew member received a minor injury, and was treated and then released at a local hospital, a spokesman for Joint Base Andrews said in an email. The helicopter — which was on a routine training mission and is assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Andrews — was damaged.

Joint Base Andrews is home to the president’s aircraft transport group… Air Force One and Marine One.

It is unknown at this time whether the shooter believed the helicopter was carrying a VIP or a member of the president’s inner circle… or perhaps the president himself.

Knowingly taking pot shots at a training helicopter makes little sense, so you do the math.

… The FBI said it is investigating the Monday incident.

“The FBI Washington Field Office is working jointly with our law enforcement partners, including the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. One individual in the helicopter sustained a non-threatening injury, for which he was treated and subsequently released from the hospital,” the FBI said in additional statements to McClatchy.
