If States Are In Charge of Elections Then Why Use the Federal Postal System Instead of Their Own Way To Deliver Ballots?

We are hearing a lot about mail-in voting these days, the Democratic Party’s scheme to steal the election from the Republicans.  I say that, because their argument in favor of it for the November election, the health and safety of voters in the midst of the Chinese virus pandemic, is patently absurd just on the face of it.

Hundreds of millions of Americans go out every week and stand in line in supermarkets to purchase food. They wear masks, they social distance, and no one is afraid of dying from the Chinese pandemic virus.  There is no reason why voters can’t go to their polling places, wearing masks, and socially distancing in line in order to vote.  Even Dr. Anthony Fauci, Mr. Infinite Lockdown himself, says there is no reason why you can’t vote in person.

Okay, so we have governors who are screaming “10th Amendment!, 10th Amendment! federalism” in that the states are in charge of the rules for how states will conduct their own elections. And that’s fine, because the Constitution does say that the national elections will have the rules made up for each individual state by each individual state.

The Constitution’s Article I, Section 4, Clause 1 states:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing [sic] Senators.

Just to be clear, the presidential election uses an Electoral College system, but the states make up the mannerisms of how elections are handled.

So, blue state governors are saying that the states create the rules of the election, and at the Trump administration, meaning the federal government, has no say in the matter.  Okay, so, if that’s true, then how come the Democrats are mandating the co-opting of the federal government’s Post Office system in order to accommodate their “10th Amendment! 10th Amendment! federalism” elections for the November presidential election?

States can’t have it both ways.  They can’t demand that the states control the entire election, but then demand that the federal government’s federal Post Office system be used to get the votes delivered for the election.

States can have drop off boxes in secure locations where people can go and drop off their ballots.  Those drop off boxes can be monitored by the gazillion lawyers each party has hired to make sure the other party doesn’t cheat (Republicans should hire twice as many).

The federal government, which is a completely separate government from the states (10 Amendment! federalism) can tell the states to go pound sand, because it’s not their job to help out in a state election where state politicians are demanding they control everything.

In fact, I would favor drop off boxes over mail-in voting any day of the week, because there’s less likelihood that your vote for Republicans will be thrown away by Democrats or vice versa.

The federal government should tell the states that if they are in charge the election, then they have to come up with their own way of delivering the ballots.  This way, when the Democrats brazenly lie about Trump trying to rig the election by making changes to the Post Office, the federal government can tell them to go pound sand.
