Declassified Docs Show Double Standard For Clinton and Trump Campaigns on Foreign Interference
Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC), after reading recently declassified documents, says he believes the FBI held a double standard for its investigations into reports of foreign interference at the campaigns of Hillary Clinton and now-President Donald Trump during and up to the 2016 presidential election.
Calling it “the ultimate double standard,” Graham stated that the documents reveal that leadership at James Comey’s FBI sought to provide the Clinton campaign a defensive briefing before it would pursue a FISA warrant related to reports that a Clinton campaign operative was connected to foreign government(s).
“The FBI finds out about a plot by a foreign government to lobby her campaign and funnel millions of dollars into the Clinton campaign illegally,” Graham said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” “They want a FISA warrant against a Clinton operative who is connected to the foreign government. What happens? The FBI seventh floor says we’re not going to let you get a warrant. And to you defensively, brief the Clinton campaign.”
However instead of doing the exact same thing for the Trump campaign, the FBI opened the Crossfire Hurricane operation and pursued a number of FISA warrants against people working with Trump’s campaign. The projectionism of these people has no end.
So, Comey’s FBI went to the Clinton campaign and warned them what they were going to be looking at, in an effort to allow them to clean things up, yet they went out of their way to make things up about the Trump campaign about the same thing they just gave a pass to Hillary Clinton.
While Graham wouldn’t reveal which foreign government wanted to help Clinton defeat Trump and get elected, he mentioned that FBI leadership shot down a request for a FISA warrant until Clinton was briefed on the matter.
“They never did to Trump,” Graham said. “As a matter of fact, not only did they not tell Trump, they used a generic briefing to spy on Trump.” In other words, when Comey said he was sending agents over to give a briefing to the Trump campaign, the FBI agents instead used their time there to gather possible information against the Trump campaign. They were hoping Trump or someone else would say something incriminating to use against them later on.
Crossfire Hurricane was the phony FBI counterintelligence investigation into links between Trump associates like George Papadopoulos, Michael Flynn and Carter Page and Russian officials and whether or not they worked “wittingly or unwittingly, with the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”
Of course we all know now that no such thing happened, but at the same time, we now know that the FBI knew that something DID happen on the Clinton side, and they gave her a pass.
In a statement released early Sunday,m Graham said, “The FBI did the right thing by briefing Clinton and failed to do the right thing by never specifically briefing President Trump about their concerns.”
