Teachers’ Union Refuses to Teach At School — But Pack In For Sharpton’s 50,000 Race “Get Off Our Necks” Rally in DC [Opinion]
There has been a lot of debate over whether or not children should return to school because of, you know, ‘the thing.’ From the jump, President Trump has said that America’s children should be back in their classrooms. OF course, if Trump is for it, the left was against it.
All the way back in early July, the president did not hold back. Trump planted his flag on reopening school and tweeted what he believed was the real reason that Biden and Democrats opposed his plan, tweeting: ‘Corrupt Joe Biden and the Democrats don’t want to open schools in the Fall for political reasons, not for health reasons! They think it will help them in November. Wrong, the people get it!’

Like clockwork, the Democrats immediately pushed back and told America how irresponsible it would be to send children to school because of, you know, ‘the thing.’ On July 20th, Democrats.org ran an article entitled ‘Trump Doubles Down On His Reckless Push To Reopen Schools Without Ensuring Safety.’ The piece stated ‘Trump continues to downplay the risk of children spreading coronavirus and threatens to take away funding that schools need now more than ever, as he pushes to reopen schools without ensuring it can be done safely.’
The previous week Fox News had reported: ‘United Teachers Los Angeles recently released a research paper on steps needed to safely reopen public schools amid the coronavirus outbreak and pointed to the need to free up additional funding by defunding the police.’ The selfless group of educators also called for ‘Medicare for all’ before they returned to work in the classroom.
Fox News explained ‘Teachers unions have long been criticized by Republicans as an extension of the Democrat Party. Republicans will likely use the paper to support that claim. The union’s paper also took aim at charter schools and reportedly called for a federal Medicare-for-All program.‘
Despite the attempts to shake down the country with outlandish and unrelated demands for reopening schools, Trump persisted.
Trump continued to push for schools to open as the month progressed. Choice Media tweeted out the video of Trump talking about children returning to the classroom, stating ‘BREAKING: @realDonaldTrump Says “If schools do not reopen, the funding should go to parents to send their child to public, private, charter, religious or homeschool of their choice…. If the school is closed the money should follow the student.”

Then the anointed one, Dr. Fauci, Hallowed be thy name, came out and said that he thought schools should open on time as well. On August 4th, News Channel 8, NBC’s Tampa affiliate, reported ‘Dr. Fauci lends support for reopening schools, in-person learning.’
-The nation’s top infectious diseases doctor is lending his support that schools should reopen this upcoming school year.
“The default position should be to try as best as you possibly can to open up the schools for in-person learning,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Fauci discusses the importance of reopening schools and the benefits it has for students.
“It’s important for the children because of the psychological benefit, and in some places, even for the nutrition of children who rely on the breakfast and the lunches in school and proper nutrition,” added Dr. Fauci.’
Now Front Page Mag is reporting:
‘The American Federation of Teachers union boss Randi Weingarten claimed at the union’s annual convention that teachers were so terrified of going back to school that they were “quitting in droves” and “making their wills”.
The AFT threatened that its members would go on strike if they were expected to go back to actually doing their jobs and teaching in a classroom.
In New York City, the United Federation of Teachers, which is affiliated with the AFT, marched with cardboard coffins and fake body bags. Some union teachers wore skeleton t-shirts.
A Halloween skeleton attached to a garbage bag held a cardboard sickle and a message written next to dripping blood, “Welcome Back to School”. “I can’t teach from a cemetery,” one sign claimed. Another declared, “We Won’t Die for the Department of Education.”
Despite their claim that they feared for their lives, the march had little social distancing.
A few weeks after the death march, the AFT’s teachers took a break from making out their wills to get on buses and travel to Washington D.C. to take part in Sharpton’s 50,000 person rally.
The AFT was described as “mobilizing” for the Get Your Knee off Our Necks Commitment March in Washington D.C. which included lots of hate, but few coronavirus precautions.
Photos showed staffers from the country’s second-largest teachers’ union holding signs in close proximity to each other. Randi Weingarten tweeted a photo of herself embracing two other union bosses, elbow bumping Martin Luther King III, posing with the head of the Human Rights Campaign, and then with Al Sharpton, who has one arm loosely draped across her body.
Unless the AFT head shares a household with Sharpton, that’s not social distancing. But photos repeatedly show Sharpton in tight groups of people, sometimes without a mask.’
The politicization of our children and their education should be a huge red flag for Americans. Quite frankly, I think this movement to keep kids home is going to backfire on the left. We have seen some jurisdictions try to force parents to sign waivers vowing not to watch, or eavesdrop on, their children’s lessons.
What could they be telling our children that would cause them to ask this? Well, Fox News reported on the admission of one ‘educator’, stating ‘Kay said “conservative parents” are his chief concern when teachers are engaging “in the messy work of destabilizing a kid’s racism or homophobia or transphobia.”’ Your children no longer belong to you. Their minds are to be control and programed by agents of the state, made up of far left activists in Farr too many instances.
My wife and I have made the decision to homeschool our children and quite frankly, we could not be more thankful now, more than ever, that we do. Looking at the crop of graduates and current college students, distain for free markets, free speech and seemingly any type of freedom at all, we feel confident not sending our kids to be taught how the world woads by strangers is the best decision we have ever made.
It takes a lot of sacrifice, and it is not for everyone, but I encourage parents to think about taking the responsibility of teaching your children upon yourselves. Handing our youth over to the government to train sounds like a recipe for disaster, in my humble opinion. Just remember, on May Day 1933, when an opponent declared, “I will not come over to your side,” Hitler recalls calmly stating, “Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”
