After months of frustration over Attorney General William Barr, President Donald Trump announced on Monday night that Barr will be going home and his duties will be take over

Some people called the move a resignatuon and some called it a termination. In Trump’s typical styke he praised Barr.

Trump made the announcement on Twitter.

Trump tweeted, “Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family…..Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, an outstanding person, will become Acting Attorney General. Highly respected Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of Deputy Attorney General. Thank you to all!”

The Washington Post reported:

William P. Barr attends a media briefing at the White House in March.

“William P. Barr is stepping down as attorney general, President Trump announced Monday, ending a controversial tenure as the country’s law enforcement official in which critics say he repeatedly used the Justice Department to aid Trump’s allies only to have the president turn on him when he did not bring charges against those seen as political foes and disputed claims of widespread election fraud.”

Reaction was not all friendly toward Barr who is seen by most supporters of Trump’s as a member of the swamp.

Left leaning NY Magazine posted kind remarks of Barr and blamed Barr’s hessitency to represnt the concerns of the American people as a badge of honor:

“The attorney general and the president had a close working relationship from the time Barr joined the administration on Valentine’s Day in 2019 until this November, when he did not sign onto Trump’s baseless allegations of election fraud. The decision — a rare example of Department of Justice independence under Barr’s tenure — created some tension between the president and the cabinet figure who most effectively enabled his authoritarian impulses. On December 3, after Barr stated that his department had found no evidence of fraud that would overturn the election, the president would not say if he still had confidence in his attorney general: “Ask me that in a number of weeks from now,” he told reporters.”

Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen will become Acting Attorney General.
