Public Health Promotion Oddity: Free Doughnuts And Pot-Everyday For A Year- For Getting COVID Vaccinations

COVID-19 is very dangerous for elderly people and others with morbidities such as Obesity , so a promotion from a doughnut shop to give away free doughnuts every day for a year to promote good “public health” is about as odd as possible to the logical thinker.

“Being protected from COVID-19 is the most obvious benefit of getting vaccinated, but here’s another one: free doughnuts. Starting Monday, anyone who shows proof of vaccination at Krispy Kreme will receive a free glazed doughnut,” Krispy Kreme posted on Monday, which was accompanied by a full radio media blast. 

“Krispy Kreme has come up with a way to make getting the Covid-19 vaccine extra sweet. Through the end of the year, if you take your vaccination card to any Krispy Kreme location in the US, you can get a free glazed doughnut each day,” San Franciso news reported. 

Uber facts claimed that the doughnut maker would be giving one free doughnut a day for the rest of the year for people who have been vaccinated:

The promotion has left a terrible taste in the mouth of rational people who understand the perilous idea of giving away free doughnuts as an incentive for good health. Even a child understands the poor math of giving everyone who has vaccinated one free doughnut a day in a country of at least 360 million people, a good number who suffer from a deadly health condition known as Diabetes.

The US Government appears to be making a number of things free to certain people they want to encourage. While Democrat Joe Biden administration is planning on paying for free hotel rooms for illegal crossers, imagine they are being told about a place of free pot and doughnuts.

According to CNBC- it isn’t just doughnuts being offered:

  • Businesses have begun offering incentives to encourage more people to get their Covid vaccine.
  • From Krispy Kreme doughnuts to cash and gift cards, here are a few of the freebies available now.

Getting America vaccinated will go a long way toward helping the country return to some sort of normal.

Already, employers such as Instacart, Target, Trader Joe’s, Chobani, Petco, Darden Restaurants, McDonald’s, and Dollar General are among a growing list of companies giving workers time off and extra money to get vaccinated for Covid-19.

Kroger is awarding employees $100 in store credit in addition to a one-time $100 payment for taking the vaccine. Publix said it would give associates a $125 gift card to use in the store after they get both doses.

For its part, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is offering anyone — employed or not — with proof of a Covid vaccination a free doughnut.

The Greenhouse of Walled Lake, a marijuana dispensary in Walled Lake, Michigan, is giving anyone over the age of 21 with proof of vaccination a free pre-rolled joint. The “Pot for Shots” promotion is a “way of saying thank you for helping to end this pandemic and getting us back to normal,” the dispensary said.

So, it is a good thing that the government cares so much about our health and well-being and that we all have Government-subsidized Health Care for free medical perks, like pot and doughnuts, when we make ourselves sick from getting free government shots.
