Rep. Kathy Manning (D-NC) has returned home and is recovering from a three-vehicle car accident this week.

The accident left the North Carolina Democrat with a broken sternum and fractured bone in her foot.

“Manning and her aide were discharged Thursday from Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro,” the Associated Press reports.

“She is very grateful for all the kind words, prayers and well wishes she has received,” a statement from her office said Friday.

AP had further details on the accident:

The State Highway Patrol said troopers responded around 10:15 a.m. to the accident on U.S. Highway 29 in Guilford County. A northbound driver making a left turn struck the southbound vehicle carrying Manning, according to a patrol statement. The northbound vehicle then struck a third vehicle waiting at a red light, the patrol said.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 34-year-old man from nearby Alamance County, was charged with failure to yield, according to the patrol.

Manning, 66, is in her second House term. Her 6th Congressional District covers all or parts of Guilford, Rockingham, Caswell and Forsyth counties.

“Rep. Manning and a member of her staff were in a car accident this morning in Greensboro, North Carolina on the way to a district event. They sustained non life-threatening injuries, were taken to the hospital, and have been discharged,” her official Twitter account posted Thursday.

“Many thanks to the first responders and the Cone Health team for their timely response and assistance.”

Congress is currently in its August recess and won’t return to session until September.
