President Trump Doubles Down On Death Penalty For Drug Dealers
President Trump is well known for his anti-drug stance. He has said on previous occasions that he believes the justice system is too lenient on them and suggested the death penalty for convicted dealers.

On Saturday, during a campaign rally, the 45th president once again called for the death penalty for drug dealers.
From The Hill:
“President Xi in China controls 1.4 billion people, with an iron hand, no drug problems, you know why they have no drug problems?” Trump said at a campaign event in New Hampshire Saturday. “Death penalty for the drug dealers.”
“You want to solve your drug problem, you have to institute a meaningful death penalty for… a drug dealer,” the former president continued.

This isn’t the first time the former president has called for the death penalty for drug dealers. Back in June, Trump also called for the death penalty as a way to deter drug dealers.
Trump does have a plan for addressing America’s drug problems, even if he didn’t discuss it Wednesday night: institute the death penalty for drug traffickers, smugglers and dealers. It’s an approach in stark contrast with much of the world.
This extreme position on drug offenses came right out of the gate with Trump’s candidacy. During his campaign announcement last November, the former president drummed a familiar beat on securing America’s southern border and combating Mexican drug cartels. He didn’t go into detail on his promises, but did outline how he would handle certain drug offenses.
“We’re going to be asking everyone who sells drugs, gets caught selling drugs, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts,” Trump said. “Because it’s the only way.”
In 2018, he made a similar statement while speaking to a crowd at Manchester Community College.
“… if we don’t get tough on drug dealers, we’re wasting our time, just remember that we’re wasting our time, and that toughness includes the death penalty,” Trump said.
